Izziwotnot's Bailey Sleigh cot bed isn't the cheapest but it's stylish and well-made. It's simple to put together, although it requires two people, and it looks great in any nursery. Our panel loved the dark wood and dowel sides. It's robust enough to be used until your baby turns toddler. It also meets British safety standards. The depth isn't enough to ensure that your child could climb out, and the distance between slats should not be more than 65mm. This should prevent their heads from becoming stuck. It is important to remember that you will need to purchase a mattress on its own and that's an extra PS88.
This cot stands out because of its shape-shifting sleigh design. It's also very easy to take your baby in and out, which is another major benefit. It's a bit more expensive than other cots however our panel believed it was worth the cost for the looks and durability.
This cot bed is available in either country pine or walnut finishes. It is suitable from birth. It has three useful mattress heights, so you can start your child off with the base high up to make it easier to get to them throughout the day and at night, then lower it as they grow. It also has added teething rails to safeguard your child's gums and their precious furniture. Once your baby grows out of the cot bed it is able to be easily converted to a junior bed and then a sofa.
The westport design from Silver Cross is another cot that feels substantial and is made to last. It can be used as a cot right from birth, later as a toddler bed, and then to become a junior bed (toddler guard rails are available separately). It was a little challenging for our panel to turn the cot into a bed but their other halves said it was easy and took less than 5 minutes. It's a little more expensive than other models however, you'll want to keep it for your children when they are older.
